Feeling the Stone

Sculpture as a Part of Life
The "Affection" series was created to live among us. These pieces were not placed on museum pedestals but in public spaces, near the children's houses and along everyday paths. Shmuelik designed them as rounded, organic forms that seem to grow from the earth and return to it, with no clear front or back.
The Secret of "Soft" Stone
How does cold stone become inviting? The secret lies in the long hours of manual work in the atelier. Shmuelik developed an extraordinary sensitivity to texture and weight, sanding the stone and concrete mixtures until they reached a uniform, refined surface. These sculptures are an open invitation to touch—they were meant to be climbed on, leaned against, and experienced by hand.
